8 specifications that transparent LED display industry insiders need to know


In recent years, more and more customers are admiring the visual effect of transparent LED display. However, when customers want to use this screen, they face certain difficulties and can be confused by many technical terms in the industry. Here, we briefly summarize the 8 most basic and important technical terms you may encounter regarding transparent LEDs, as follows.

1. Pixel Pitch - Pixel Density

This is the most important basic parameter of transparent LEDs. It is the distance from the center of one bead to the center of another adjacent bead. For example, P2.6 means the horizontal distance between two adjacent beads is less than 2.6mm pixel pitch. The larger the number of beads per unit area (per square meter), it also means the higher the resolution and cost.

2. Viewing Distance

Viewing distance, as the name implies, is the distance between the screen position and the viewer's line of sight. For a transparent LED display with a specific pixel pitch, it has a minimum viewing distance and a maximum viewing distance. The higher the pixel pitch, the further the viewing distance. However, for transparent LED displays that are for indoor use only, it is best to choose a pixel pitch that is small enough to ensure a perfect display.

3. Resolution

As we all know, images are made up of millions of pixels, and the same is true for transparent LED screens. You can think of each particle as a pixel. For example, a P2.6 (2.6x5.68mm) transparent LED display with dimensions of 3.33x2m has a screen resolution of 1280x720p (HD, 16:9).

4. Transparency - transparency

This parameter is only applicable to transparent LED products. It mainly refers to the extent to which the LED strip allows light to pass through under standard thickness conditions. Please refer to the chart below. The higher the transparency, the less we see the light strip at a certain distance.

5. Brightness

This is another important term for transparent LEDs. If the brightness is not high enough, you cannot see what is displayed in the sunlight. For a glass window in direct sunlight, the brightness of the LED should not be less than 6000 nits. If there is not much light in the room, 2000-3000 nits is sufficient for indoor viewing. Low brightness is not only energy-saving and economical, but also avoids light pollution.

In short, the ambient light, glass color, working hours and other factors determine the choice of screen brightness.

6. Cabinet size

Each large screen is assembled from many cabinet frames, just like Lego blocks. The cabinet design makes the monitor easy to pack, transport and install. Each cabinet consists of several small modules. When there is a dead light, there is no need to replace the whole screen, just replace the faulty module and fix the lamp beads or light bars. This is an efficient and cost effective maintenance design.

7. Effective display size - actual display size

This phrase refers to the area where particles and pixels are actually present. Since the cabinet is surrounded by a frame, this means that the led display size will be smaller than the standard cabinet size. The "effective display size" parameter helps to provide accurate information about the size of the LED display to help calculate and design video presentations more accurately.

8. Refresh rate

Depending on the requirements, Luxmage products can have refresh rates from 1920Hz to 5770Hz, which is ideal for taking pictures with a camera without watery pictures.

The "refresh rate" parameter is much more complicated than other parameters. For example, a "refresh rate" parameter of "360 Hz" means that the transparent screen can display 360 images per second. In addition, when this parameter is lower than "360 Hz", flicker will be felt by the naked eye.
